For your consideration…

We would not think so, but summertime can be stressful. Working parents need to find childcare for out-of-school kids. There is vacation planning and prep. There is excitement for it and then the let down of it being over. The yardwork we’re excited about in the spring can become a chore.

Something that doesn’t tend to be considered is the added work that we have in our jobs. For many, there is a constant shortage of manpower that we cover for while someone(s) are on vacation. A long time ago. The UAW negotiated PPH days. These were additional days off for everyone. They were days an employee could schedule off for personal tasks. Sounds great, right Except it wasn’t. An assembly line works best when it is fully staffed with regular employees. Could other people fill in? Of course, but usually not up to the speed of the regular employee. These days off were eventually bargained off for something else because the short-term personal gain was not worth the added stress of the rest of the work days.

This is Labor Day Weekend, is often considered the end of summer. We are asked today to self-check. Are we on overload? If so, pause and take care of you. It is ok to say, “No, thank you.” to invites. It is OK to not pick up extra tasks. Don’t spend time with people who exhaust you. Just take care of you. Get yourself back in sync. Recharge your battery.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”{

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Recharge your battery.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Vic, Jul, and Kay came over. They organized my shed, Unpacked many boxes. They were an enormous help.

-Alex came over and set up my computer and got my Alexa working and did some of the heavy lifting for some of my boxes. It felt good to be able to sit at my desk to write my blog last night.

-Catching up with Cathy.

-Jul and I went for an early dinner.

-A new mystery.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
