For your consideration…

Yes, I know this is a day late. Yesterday, I took care of my grandson. I have pulled back muscles, and by the time I got home, I was incapacitated for the rest of the night. Yet, I could not let this message go even if it was a day late.

It is only right that there is a national day to celebrate dogs. How can we not feel blessed when we have a friend who is always loyal, loves us no matter what, is always there to greet us with joy. is ready to cuddle us in good times and bad, etc?

I have said this before, but will say it again because the lesson is such a good example. My dog, Louie, literally saved my life. We had decided to not get any more dogs after we lost our last golden retriever, Dude. We wanted to travel. But once Bruce, my husband, got sick travel was out of the question. Indeed, getting out of the house at all, was very limited. It was a tough time and I was lonely. I decided to get a smaller dog. Enter, Louie. He is only 12 pounds but he has all the qualities of a big dog. He is not an incessant barker. He does not potty in the house. He is a great cuddle bug. He travels with me. He is not perfect but he is perfect for me.

National Dog Day reminds us of the value of having a pet. They bring love and calmness to our soul.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Give your dog a hug.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-My precious new grandson, Owen.

-Catching up with Mary.

-Most of my sliding shelves were put in.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
