Loneliness, Isolation & Their Mental Health Impact

For your consideration…

So many times, I have said how much easier it is today to stay in contact with people than it was when I grew up. We are constantly hearing stories about reconnection due to social media. This is the plus side.

But there is another side. We can become so dependent on social media that we neglect the personal connection. It is easy to become isolated. It seems impossible, but it happens all of the time. “Following” someone is not the same as connecting.

We need each other. We need to hear other people’s voices and see them in person. We need to physically interact with other people.

We are asked to stay connected and not become isolated. We each have a purpose and it can not be done in isolation.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Stay physically connected to people…life.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Ginger and I made our annual trip to the family cemetery near Battle Creek and planted flowers.

-Had our traditional lunch at Win Schuller’s.

-Alex, James, Owen, Conner and I met at Shannon and Will’s to celebrate Alex’s birthday. We went for a boat ride over to Zukey Lake Tavern for dinner and had a great ride back.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
