Either/Or #17

For your consideration…

Patriarchy vs Matriarchy, Democrat vs Republican, NOW or not, etc. The question is, why do we have to choose?

Let’s think about all of the discussion and pushes for the Matriarchy. Do we think women should be equal and share the power? Of course. But does that mean that the Patriarchy needs to be destroyed? Of course not. Yet this is what the push has been. Demeaning men has become sport for several organizations and political rhetoric. So what happened? There has been a backlash. In the end did women gain ground? No. Instead, women became bad examples of what could be. Whereas forming productive partnerships could be positive powerful examples.

The same thing happened in the Women’s movement. It gained momentum until it started dictating who could be a part of it. You were either for all of it or none of it. Example being abortion. If you did not support abortion, you were not a true believer in women’s rights even if you believed in everything else NOW stood for.

Democrat or Republican is another choice. We are led to believe that you should vote for the party even if you don’t think they have the best candidate. This has resulted in two strong parties that eliminate other qualified candidates.

Do you see the dilemma? Sometimes, often big things, are not appropriate for “either /or.” They require more thought. They require compromise. They require adjustments. ETC.

We are asked today to stand firm and not let ourselves be forced into “either /or.” Don’t let others ostracize you or make you feel less than the powerful person that you are.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you are, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Drink lots of water.

-Don’t let yourself be forced into choices you don’t want to make.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Switched the house decorations out to the summer ones.

-Laundry done.

-Catching up with Pam.

-A new book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
