A Little Bit of This & A Little Bit of That | Pretoria

For your consideration…

I HOPE I can explain this message correctly. I understand it, but it is a bit hard to explain.

In our lives. we often have things compartmentalized: friends, events, food, etc. A simple example is food menus. I find that I make applesauce whenever I cook pork loin. It works, but that does not mean that something else would pair as well or better.

My high school friends and I like to tease one another when we talk about doing things with other friends. “You have other friends?” we tease. We tend to do different things with different friends.

I make greeting cards. I have an enormous amount of supplies. I tend to keep sets of things together. Lately, however, I have found that the perfect stamp or die is in another set. I get awesome results when I combine them.

And that is the point. We get settled into these little “arrangements” or “compartments” in our lives. We have boxed them in. We don’t look at shaking things up a bit. We don’t think about mixing and matching.

Our message today asks us to consider “putting a little bit of this with a little bit of that.” Break down the boxes. Work with what we have to  make old things new.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Mix things up. Put a little bit of this with a little bit of that.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Finished putting up Halloween decorations.

-A DKG dinner at Paesano’s.

-Beth and I finished booking air and hotel reservations for our cruise in April.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
