For your consideration…

Patrick Henry was 39 years old when he gave his liberty speech. Our founding fathers ranged in age from early 20’s to Benjamin Franklin, who was 70. Most were in there 30-40’s.

Hmmm, what was I doing in each of those decades of my life? Certainly not writing a document as great as the Declaration of Independence.

Our message today is about liberty. I am not sure if we have had a message about it before or not. I do know that it is probably high time. There seems to be a lot of confusion about liberty, freedom, etc. William Sumner wrote,

“There is…no liberty but liberty under law. Law does not restrict liberty. It creates the only real liberty there is.”

Without laws, it is a free-for-all all. Every one of God’s children should be free to experience and grow. The laws put in place by society, nations, religions, etc., are put there as a framework so that we can do that. Do we always like and/or agree with them? Probably not. But we can work to change them. We often hear about ordinary people doing extraordinary things.

Law and order are meant to give us a safe place to air our differences, experience freedom of speech. Our liberty and free speech is not meant to be weaponized. Does the Constitution say that? It doesn’t have to. The Ten Commandments do. In fact, most religions have love one another at their core.

If we are letting our Spirit lead us, if we believe that only love is real, then we should not have a problem with following civil laws or those laws being enforced.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Love your liberty. It is a blessing.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-A fun birthday party for Conner.

-A good night’s sleep…finally.

-Back is getting better.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
