For your consideration…

Today’s message is actually about purging. It is about getting rid of things your don’t need, or never use. It is about creating space for new things. I think we can all recognize that a little bit more on top of a little bit more…adds up to a lot over time.

Both my sister, Lori, and I have both recently moved to smaller spaces. For me, I did a big purge. And some things I thought I didn’t purge haven’t shown up in my new. It is a disappointing mystery but am I ok? Yes. Am I doing great despite? Yes. Am I glad I did the purging? Overwhelmingly, yes.

So now the task is staying organized and not letting things get out of hand again. My sister decided from the get go of her move that from now on if one thing comes in the house, something else has to go. I’m trying to do the same. In fact, I think there is even more purging I can do in my closet.

Christmas is coming. HOPEfully we will be getting presents. Are we going to add to or replace something?

Yes, it is the holiday season. Most of us are busy doing extra tasks. But when we go in that closet, cupboard, garage, kids room, etc., to grab something, take a second look and putt something out that is no longer serving its purpose. Donate it, give it to someone who you know wants it, or throw it away. Make room for the new.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of your light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Even though there were some dicey roads.

-A morning trip out to Shannon’s to pick up some sour dough starter for a friend in my cooking class.

-He was so excited to get it and the loaf of bread she made him.

-We made an Italian Christmas Eve dinner in class. It was delicious and a fun night.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
