There is something about fall where we all tend to get back into a routine. Most of it comes from school starting back up. It is like that is a trigger for all of us to buckle back down into the heartbeat of our life.
That is the comfort of a routine. That steady beat. The knowing of what to expect. That automatic pilot may have us busy but we know just how to handle it. We have a canned plan.
And all is well, right? Almost. Today we are reminded that routine is a good thing. But like anything else there can be too much of it. We all know this saying:
‘‘If you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got.’’

Routine is good but we need to remember to step out of the box from time to time and grow. Look around with fresh eyes and try something new. That is the HOPE.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can take…..
-Meditate. Make that a routine and find comfort in it.
-Drink lots of water.
-Try something new i.e.; a new class, read a different author, try new exercise, volunteer somewhere new, plan a day trip to somewhere you have never been, go to a midnight movie, try a new recipe, change your hair color or hairstyle, try a new nail polish color. You get the picture.
-Take at least 10 deep breaths outdoors.
What made me smile yesterday…..
-Mary and I spent the day together at the Fall Clinton Festival. We stayed from breakfast to dinner. We came home exhausted but happy.
-I found some beautiful things for Stillwater.
-Mary found the perfect fall wreath she was looking for.
-A couple great TV shows topped off the night and I went to bed early. Yeah.
