Discovery
For your consideration….
Like everything else, discovery, has positives and negatives. If we suspend judgment, they are all equal. And we know that our attitude makes all of the difference.
Right now, the coronavirus is front and center of everything. So we are going to use it as our example today. Our lives have been drastically altered. Most people have never imaged something like this happening. So how do we want to react? We have a choice. We always have a choice.
Today we are asked to consider adopting an attitude of “discovery.” What can discover about our community, our country and ourselves.?
First, lets think about our country. We have watched and learned from other countries. We have taken action sooner than other countries. And we have discovered that we may have some drug shortages because the manufacturing of drugs has been outsourced. As American workers lost their jobs and warned of this, it all fell on deaf ears as we considered it “sour grapes.” It is the same with the auto industry, oil industry etc. Every person holds responsibility as we seek to buy the cheapest we can. This is not a criticism. We are just reminded that to every action their is a counter action. We just don’t give it much thought. So now we know. How dependent do we want to be on other countries? There is a balance somewhere. This discovery time is to find its strengths and weaknesses. We don’t have to judge or blame. Now we know and we can make decisions accordingly.
And it is the same with our communities. We can look and see how responsible they are being. Do we have good alert systems? How can we improve? Again, not a criticism, it is a time of discovery.
Now, let’s turn to ourselves. Let’s be honest and ask ourselves how we feel about limiting our activities and/or sheltering in place? This is where we can make the biggest discoveries of all because we own our power. We control it. Is this time a blessing or a curse? Are we excited or depressed? Are we motivated or unmotivated?
Think about the pioneers. Think about explorers. Think about inventors. Think about writers etc. These are people who can manage being alone with themselves. We are asked every day to meditate/pray. We are asked every day to spend some time with ourselves. We discover ourselves in many many ways; friendships, relationships, experiences etc. But we discover the most when we are alone with ourselves. We discover the most when we are silent and work with our Guidance.
It is doubtful that many have zero to do on our “to do” list. This is the opportunity to accomplish some of it. This is the opportunity to do some spiritual “self-discovery.”
We are blessed. We are asked to consider the blessing of discovery during this down time.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
–Discover.
What made me smile yesterday….
-Catching up with Cathy, Mary, Shannon, Alex, Lori, Jackie….see making use of the down time.
-My grocery store still had fresh vegetables.
-I got all of my blog files to be printed. My granddaughter, Mackenzie, has agreed to help me sort so I can get a book together.
-Lots of golfers on a pretty day.
-A good book…actually a couple.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
