Lake Huron sunrise in Lexington, MI

For your consideration…

I remember my first pajama party was at Marlene Warnet’s. We lived in a small village on Lake Huron. I was so excited to go to it but started to worry once I was there. Marlene, ever confident and adventurous, had planned that we would get up right before dawn and head down to the lake to watch the sun come up. This put me in a real predicament because my mother was very very strict. There was no way she would have ok’d that and in our small village there was no way she wouldn’t find out. Yet, I didn’t want to stay behind by myself and admit that I was so afraid of my mother. So I went. I have to say that I had never ever given any thought to watching the sun come up. I didn’t understand the excitement that came along with it. Of course, that morning came to understand true beauty and a magnificent gift from God.

The birds are smart. They never miss a sunrise. They always start their day with that gift. We are given their example today not to say that we should never miss a sunrise but we definitely need to see them often.

Why? Why the magic? It is the contrast. In the sunrise we see the darkest hour turn into light…every single day. Every single day we get that miracle. Every single day the miracle of sunrise reminds us that there will always be light…always be HOPE…always be new beginnings and God always loves us.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Watch a sunrise.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Lots of tasks done…little ones….but none the less…accomplishment.

-An impromptu grocery shopping trip with my daughter, Shannon. That does not sound like fun but it was a new grocery store that was awesome. And we never get to spend alone time together. It was fun.

-Catching up with Alex.

-A good book.

-The sprinklers are back on and I have never seen my yard respond so fast. I am so happy.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
