For your consideration…

I woke up very early this morning to the song written by Paul Simon, “Slip Slidin’ Away.” I went back to sleep and forgot about it. Then as I meditated asking for today’s message, I again hear “Slip Slidin’ Away.” The tone was funny like “Hey, we gave you this already.” In each case the message was delivered as “light-hearted.” So I was a little bit surprised when I looked up the song lyrics. While the song seems light, it definitely is not.  Hmmm, so back to sitting and listening. What is our message out of this song?

While I think this song lacks HOPE, our message today is very HOPEful. It is HOPEful because recognizing and knowing are key to then engaging our power.

Once again, we hear this over and over, we are in a constant state of change. Nothing is ever exactly the same from one moment to the next…in anything. Even though we know this, it is not usually at the forefront of our minds until there is a trigger that makes us suddenly notice that there is a change taking place. Or maybe it already has.

For most of us the biggest fear we have is in change in relationships with those we love albeit a distancing emotionally or physically and/or death. We know that death is inevitable but we often dread and fear it.

So that leads us with a choice. We can either choose dread and fear or we can choose to make the most of the time we have. We can embrace our emotions and share them freely. We can make sure that we are making loving and joyful memories in even the most mundane moments. We can choose to leave nothing unsaid or done so that we do not have regrets.

Gratitude that we have a choice is our HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Affirm…I have a choice.” Make the most of your choices.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Sunshine.

-Bruce is getting better and HOPEfully will be released to a rehab facility in the next day or so.

-So happy for my girls.

-All those big items on my to-do list that seemed so out of control are one by one being handled.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
