For your consideration…

I think it is pretty safe to say that most of us recognize that there is a lot of fear mongering going on right now leading up to the November election. This is nothing new. Unfortunately, it is the easiest way…the lazy way…to try to garner support. The media do the same thing via raucous headlines. Most of us understand this and HOPEfully most of us are NOT lazy and do our own thinking. But this is not the fear mongering our message is talking about. It is just an example.

Fear mongering can be done by anyone we come in contact with. In fact, we can do it to ourselves.

We have had many messages how we can tell if our feelings, messages we are get are from our ego or our authentic self. Time after time we are reminded that the way we tell the difference is whether or not we feel loved. Remember…even if we don’t like the message, we can feel the love behind it.

Today’s message tells us that is the exact same measurement we should use when other people use fear to manipulate us. It is easy to recognize this in domestic violence but perhaps not as easily in other relationships. Friends. family, co-workers, neighbors, acquaintances, teachers….all people can and sometimes do use fear mongering. We learn this at a young age, “If you do this, you will get spanked or a time out.” We don’t call it fear mongering. We call it consequences. Learning consequences is a good thing when we are looking out for the well-being of others.

However, like anything else, it can cross a line. We cross that line when we use it to control others for our own benefit. That is fear mongering.

We are reminded to hold on to our own power and don’t let fear mongers try to steal it away.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Resist fear mongering.

What made me smile yesterday…

-An easy trip to UofM hospital.

-One thing led to another and before it we had seen the doctor and had 3 tests done.

-We were back home in 4 hours. I never would have believed it possible.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
