Six Degrees of Separation

by Deb Magelssen

For your consideration….

It is so strange how today’s message came in. It was like just keep following the thread.

First we are asked to think about weddings and funerals. When we go to them, we typically expect to know people there. Sometimes they are like big reunions. Invariably however, we come across someone we know that we do not expect to be there. We have to ask about the connection. Who or how do you know the people here? What is your connection to them? It seems strange to see people where we don’t expect them. They seem out of context. We have to “add” to the profile we have created about them.

That brings us to the next step of the message….Six Degrees of Separation. It is the theory that any person on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. So many times, I personally have been far from home and run into someone I know or someone who knows people I know. It is just uncanny enough that it gives me pause to seriously consider six degrees of separation a real possibility.

Five or six people does not seem like a lot. We are that close to a connection with each and every person. That brings us to the final part of today’s message, a song. I love when a song comes in to deliver a message but this is the first time one has come in to summarize it.

Get Along

by Kenny Chesney  (in part)

We find out when you die the keys to heaven can’t be bought
We still don’t know what love is but we sure know what it’s not
Sometimes you got to

Get along, on down the road
We’ve got a long long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain’t perfect but we try

Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can’t we all get along

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Affirm…“I am loved.” And I have an abundance of love to share.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday….

-An easy school day.

-Sunshine and warm temps.

-Grocery shopping done.

-Shower stuff done.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
