For your consideration….

Today’s message seemed familiar to me but as I sat with it I realized it was the title of a book by Oprah Winfrey and not a message we have received before.

We are asked to pause and reflect on “What I know for sure.” Our first thought may be “Oh, that will be easy.” But as each thing comes up, we are asked to ask the question, “How do I know?”

You see, if we can not answer the “How do I know,” then we don’t really know for sure. “Knowing for sure” is never because someone else told us. It is never because someone taught us. Certainly, it is never because we learned it on Facebook, Twitter….any social media….or the news.

When we sit with what we know for sure, and answer the question on how we know, a few things will happen. First, will most certainly be that there are very few things that we know for sure. Second, we will realize that what we know for sure are the cornerstones and foundation of our very being. We learn that if we let our “what we know for sures” be unverified, then we have a shifting and shaky foundation.

Let’s think about Oprah’s book. It would be easy if we could pick it up, read it and adopt it. But they are not our “what we know for sures.” We have not sat with them, worked with them and verified them. For the record, each and every one of them is worth pondering, pursuing and adopting, if we put in the work. If we know with all of our being they are true, then they become our own.

We are given this message today because it is important that we know, like we know, like we know what our truth is. Our truth goes to the core of who we are. Our truth should be what drives us to our life purpose. Knowing and living our truth is what insulates us from the chaos and madness that is also part if the world. What we know for sure, our truth, is the light we shine chasing away the darkness.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors….spend time outdoors….take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Think about…sort out…what YOU know for sure.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Having Alex and James home.

-Laundry done, cutting board sanitized, vacuuming done, dusting done, blog done, car gassed up, trip to the farm stand done, shower done….all before 8:30.

-A book. It is ok, not the best, but I am too far into it to just put it down. What is it about me that makes me determined to stick it out. I  have been on it for 5 days. Normally I read a book in 1-2 days. Today I am finishing it for sure.

-Chris and Amelia came to visit as well. It is good to have a house full.

Love, Gratitude and Blessings,

Rev. Chris
