For your consideration….

We all see it. We have all experienced it. Perhaps we have even done it. What happens if we are not good problem solvers? What happens when people have their own agenda? We “throw out the baby with the bath water.

Education is famous for this. We have an issue with testing so lets throw out the old and create a new which ultimately has its own failures. Or maybe we don’t completely throw out the old, we just add additional ones further burdening our schools. When my youngest child was in grade school, a “new” reading program was introduced. The program they introduced held the premise that seeing words over and over was enough. So new words were introduced through all of the subjects math, science, reading and writing. Because of the frequency of seeing the words, it was decided that phonics was not necessary. Of course, the program was a failure and it was very hard for many of the students who were the guinea pigs of the program to catch up in reading.

Yes, rather than take time to brain storm, analyze and really think about what is not working and what is, we choose to simply start over. Of course, all new plans come with their own sets of problems. All too often the “brain” of the new idea has moved on before the issues have to be dealt with.

I love the picture above. It suggests that we tweak. There are many more letters in the alphabet before we have to find a whole new alphabet. It takes time and talent to get to the root of a problem and then figure our a way to fix it. But solid plans are worth it. We get to keep what is working well.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Problem solve and tweak.

What made me smile yesterday….

-I am amazed at how far our kindergarteners have come after only 142 days in school.

-I expected an “indoor” day but we were blessed with a beautiful day.

-A good book.

-Plane tickets bought for our July trip to see Alex. We are so excited.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
