Indian Serenity Prayer

God, grant me the strength of eagles wings,

the faith and courage to fly to new heights,

and the wisdom to rely on spirit to carry me there.

Artist Charles Frizzell

For your consideration….
I love the above picture and the prayer that accompanies it. We’ll consider it a bonus for today because our message today is actually about perspective, gaining perspective and ultimately wisdom. So why did I choose this picture to depict the message?

I choose it because there is a lot going on in it and a lot to consider. Just as there are all different ways to gain perspective and ultimately wisdom.

We do not get it standing firmly rooted in our own picture, our own landscape. No, we gain perspective by stepping out of it. Sometimes this is fun. Sometimes it is scary. Sometimes it is uncomfortable. Sometimes it is shocking, sometimes not. Sometimes it is easy while other times hard etc. Sometimes we want to do it and other times we don’t. When we don’t, is probably a good indicator that we must.

How do we get a different perspective? There are a number of ways. Sometimes we get it in our meditation or prayers. Sometimes it is as simple as moving to a new window. Sometimes it is going to higher ground and taking a fresh look from that view. Sometimes it is listening to people who do not agree with us. Or listening to people who do but for different reasons. We can get new perspective by paying attention to our dreams. We get lots of information in our dream state. We can get new perspective buy traveling down the path of a maze and or reading a book.

We can use our imagination to gain perspective. We can imagine what our perspective may be if we were soaring with an eagle. How might that be different from a butterfly? Do we think the butterfly and hummingbird’s perspective is the same? Why or why not? Is one more valid than another?

We can gain perspective by checking in with our Guidance and our Authentic Self. How do they view at the same situation our ego self is looking at?

There is no one that is right 100% of the time. There is no one who does not benefit from getting different perspectives. It is one of the ways we grow. We gather, consider and decide what is valid and what is not.

We are asked to learn to be comfortable stepping out of our comfort zone and viewing life through different perspectives. Change our scenery, change our view. Gather and grow.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece,  HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Grow….look at life through different perspectives.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Watching the grandkids and friends golf.

-Lunch with them.

-Observing…boys are so different from girls.

-While preparing for meeting this morning, I discovered that it is not until Aug. 11th. What made me think it was today, is beyond me. At least I did not get up at the crack of dawn and go to it only to discover it was not today.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
