Sounds Of Life
For your consideration….
We often notice and speak about the “sounds of silence.” Inherent in the silence is noise. We notice it because it is different for the noise we are subjected to most of the time. We notice it because it is most often peaceful which is often not what we experience most of the time.
Why is that so? Why is the sounds of life generally not peaceful, productive, joyful and happy.
Our message today tells us that our words, the thoughts that go into our words, our tone in delivering those words and the way we deliver them matter. Our words matter, each and every one of us matters. The words we expel matter. We have personal responsibility for them.
Listen, notice to the sounds of life and what is productive and inspiring. Listen and notice to the sounds that are not. Notice on how the sounds are delivered. Perhaps the message is right but the tone and feelings in the delivery taint and destroy it.
We all experience anger. Sometimes it is very legit. We can choose how we react to it. We can react with hate or with love. We can react as if it is HOPEless or HOPEful. We can perpetuate the angry message or we can refuse to. We can repeat it or change it.
Notice our message does not suggest putting our heads in the sand. No, it suggests listen and notice it for what it is. Then we decide if it is worth our time. Then we decide if we can use it for the highest good of all?
What does that mean, the highest good of all? It means noticing and thinking about what is going to serve the world and all in it with what is good. In no circumstance does ignoring evil serve our highest good. In no circumstances does hateful words serve our highest good. In no circumstances does calling for or doing violence against the innocent serve the highest good. We know this already. We don’t have to waste our time, ears and mouth giving evil, terrorists, dishonesty, hatefulness etc. more sound and space than they already have.
Seriously, can you imagine if the news media had to air a positive uplifting story for every depressing one they shove on us? Listening to the news leave viewers with a very dim view of the world. Where are the sounds of HOPE, love, joy and peace that we all know surrounds us?
Our message today is clear. Change the rhetoric. Change the narrative. Let OUR sounds of life be sounds of love, HOPE, joy and peace.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take….
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Make your “sounds of life” full of HOPE, love, joy and peace.
What made me smile yesterday…..
-Cooler weather.
-My new little patio table at Stillwater is perfect. I was able to work outside all afternoon.
-Cooler weather….actually….perfect weather.
-A good book.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
