Sunrise, Sunset (in part)

Sheldon Harnick

Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset
Swiftly go the days
Seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
Blossoming even as we gaze
Sunrise, sunset, sunrise, sunset
Swiftly fly the years
One season following an other
Laden with happiness and tears

For your consideration…..

As soon as our message came in via the song “Sunrise, Sunset.” I knew right where to get the picture for it. My daughter sent this to me last night right after she took it standing on her patio in the San Juan Islands.

Clearly her sunset was beautiful, more beautiful than ours was. Sunsets and sunrises vary that way. Often we don’t notice them, then we will be given a spectacular one that just grabs our attention, appreciation and gratitude.

Our message today compares our breath to sunrises and sunsets. Our inhale is like that of the Universe at sunrise and our exhale that of the Universe at sunset. It is a pattern we count on. We are partners and one with each other. Our breath may change like the sunrise and sunset but it is there sustaining us.

Like the sunrise and sunset we may not notice our breath but without it we cease to exist in the physical body. It is a beat we live to. It is a time-keeper just as the sunrise and sunset is for Mother Earth. With breath, sunrise and sunset being so important, isn’t it amazing how little thought we give to them?

We may not have much control over sunrise and sunset but we have huge control over our breath. We have said many times that breath is our reset button. It is so true. With our breath we can control out of control emotions. We can use it to sustain physical activity. We can use it to put ourselves to sleep or relax. We can use it to go into meditation and connect with our authentic self and our Guidance etc.

When we look at a sunrise or sunset we are asked to remember our breath and use it to our full advantage.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps in anyone can take….

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Use your breath to its full advantage.

What made me smile yesterday….

-Coffee and conversation with Jackie before she left for home.

-A PJ day. I got off to a slow start but did manage to get laundry done.

-Leftovers were the best.

-Bills paid…ugh…but done for a month….yeah.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
