This Little Light Of Mine
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

I’m gonna take this light around the world and I’m gonna
let it shine.
I’m gonna take this light around the world and I’m gonna
let it shine.
I’m gonna take this light around the world and I’m gonna

let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

I won’t let anyone blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine.
I won’t let anyone blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine.
I won’t let anyone blow it out, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

Every day, every day, I’m going to let my little light
shine.

Songwriters: SCOTT, STEPHEN H. / DP,
For your consideration…..
Probably, we have all heard this song. Certainly it is a worthy and beautiful message on its own. We have many messages about living from our authentic self and letting our light shine.
Today’s message is a little different. It acknowledges that we often let our light shine and that we don’t even know it. In fact, more often that not, we don’t even realize when we have touched someone’s life and made an impact. Or we don’t know that we have created the “pebble in the pond effect.”
Let me give you an example. I hurt my back. My husband, Bruce, is great in this type of scenario. He is always ready and willing to help. In this particular instance, I got myself somewhat comfortable, at least not in pain, but knew that a footstool and slippers would make a world of difference. Bruce springs into action and gets them both for me. However, I could not bend over to put my slippers on and have to ask him to do it. He chuckles and says, “Sure. This reminds me of Mr. Willoughby when I was a kid putting on my brand new Buster Brown cowboy boots.”
When we were growing up, Mr. Willoughby  had a shoe store in town long before there were chains. He was a lovely and kind man and has since passed. The point of this story is to ask us this. Do we think that Mr. Willoughby had any thought that he was creating a wonderful memory for my husband that he would remember over 60 years later? More than likely not and he is a perfect example today of letting our light shine and lead our way….for ourselves and others.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Let the light of your authentic self lead your way.
What made me smile yesterday….
-A trip to Treasure Mart.
-A day off.
-A good book.
-A great chat with Alex and great pics of the new  house.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
