Mom wrote, “Bonnie, A Class Up”

For your consideration….
I was given a story of my Mother’s as a way to today’s message. I am grateful. It is fitting.
By the age of 4 my mother had lost both of her parents. Her sister, bothers and her were raised by their paternal grandparents on the County Farm. Her grandfather and her were particularly close, probably because she would rather have worked in barns than in the kitchen.
Mom loved all animals but horses were her passion. When she was in her early teens, her grandfather bought Bonnie for her for her birthday which was in July. She was over the moon. The following Christmas he bought her a saddle for Christmas. Again she was over the moon.
A couple of months later she was in the barn with Grandpa and he said, “Patsy, don’t you like the saddle I bought you?”
“Oh yes, Grandpa, I love it.”
“Then why don’t you ever use it.” he asked.
“Grandpa, its so cold riding. Bonnie keeps me warm when I ride her bareback. I can’t wait to use the saddle when it gets warmer.”
Mom always said she felt bad that Grandpa had hurt feelings for so long before he talked to her. She remembered how happy he was when she explained her reasoning to him.
All too often we have our feelings hurt, are angry or upset because we assume things. It is our ego talking to us. It is even more prevalent now that we have thrown social media into the mix.
We are reminded today, first not to assume and second not to let things fester. Be honest and open and clear the air. We will save ourselves unnecessary heart ache.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Walk barefoot in the grass.
-Clear the air.
What made me smile yesterday….
-Flower shopping.
-Cards made.
-Caught up on all of the new magazines that have come in the last couple of weeks.
-Planted some herbs.
-Sunshine.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris

Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
