Group / Mob Mentality
For your consideration……
Wow, this is a hard one to write so please remember this is “for your consideration.”
If we listen to the news there has been lots reported on the terrorist groups and their recruiting practices. It is much like Stockholm Syndrome. We see this as evil and dark because people s’ free will, identity and gift to the world has been stolen.
Our message today points out that is not very different from other more legitimate organizations. Political pacts, unions, often churches, political parties, movements etc. often do the same thing because they have an agenda. Let’s be clear. Often these groups have been formed out of a need. They have been formed to take care of an injustice. Members have rallied around a right and just cause. They stand as one for a common goal.
The problem comes in after the goal has been met. Success breeds success so the group stays together. Then as time goes on it delivers new goals and then mandates. If you are with, believe this, do that, vote for these people or you are not a member of this group. You don’t support us. You are no longer one of us.
Look at the feminism movement. Clearly there was a need for women to have equal rights. Who can argue with their success? Who wants to give up what they achieved? Ultimately as goals were added or shifted lots of women felt left out or diminished especially wives and moms who felt their family was top priority. Another example would be unions. My husband and I (at one time) were both part of the UAW. Again let’s be clear. Autoworkers work hard, extremely hard. Don’t believe everything you hear about them. I personally have seen many people come in because the pay was great and then walk off at lunchtime and never return again because the job was too hard. The UAW was created to fill a need. But here again goals were added. During election time we will be bombarded not only with mail but daily phone calls telling us how to vote. It is always 100% Democrat. Some candidates they support are good even great but others are terrible and share none of our core beliefs. Yet our union money still supports them and we are told to vote for them. No political party, person or group, are right 100% of the time. It is up to us to take responsibility and ferret what is true, right and just and act accordingly.
Here is the message today. Much of the world’s current state is due to “group/mob” mentality. People have given away their power. Whether it was intended or not, it is against our life purpose. Never….never…..never give up your free will, your truth. I am grateful every day for the benefits that I have received from the UAW and the women’s movement. Whenever we have common ground I want to support them. But again, no one is 100% right all of the time and we need to support our own truth.
Hey, we are busy. It takes a lot of time to research people and causes. It is easier to let someone else do it for us and tell us what to do. The problem is that they are seeing it through their filters and not through our own. We had a message earlier about using our own lens and filters. And really that is what today is about. It is just being delivered with a much stronger urgency.
Often we are told that our Guidance walks in step with us. They want us to ask them for anything, help with anything. Big or small it makes no difference because there is no judgement.
And so these wildly distant examples of terrorists vs organizations and causes, when we suspend judgement, are the same. They are the same because they ask, require or forcefully take away power and control.
We are born with a God-given purpose and free will. Don’t give it away. We can support worthy organizations and causes without giving away our power and control. Stay true to your truth. The world needs your eyes, ears and voice.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….
-Meditate/pray….ask….”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Do something fun.
What made me smile yesterday…….
-One of the kindergarten boys walked into the restroom right after another. Before closing the door, I saw him plug his nose.
-Air conditioning after a long day without it in 93 degree weather.
-The thought of my sister going out lobstering.
-An early bed time.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
