You’ve Got A Friend by James Taylor

When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend.

If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow,
keep your head together and call my name out loud.
Soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend? People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you. Well, they’ll take your soul if you let them,
oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call, Lord, I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend. You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend. Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
Oh, yeah, yeah, you’ve got a friend.
When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am

For your consideration……

I knew this song immediately as it was given to me. How perfect!

While our messages are always encouraging and full of love, sometimes they seem urgent, pushy and even harsh. Sometimes we have to be those things to the people that mean the most to us. God and all of our Guidance only holds love for us so they often have to be the ones to do the pushing, urging and frank messages. We have had a few of them lately.

But today is none of those things. It is a loving reminder that we are never alone. We are never without help and resources. And above all we can count on loving help whenever we ask for it.

It is absolutely free. It has no strings attached. We simply need to open our hearts and minds. Ask our ego to step aside. Then call out.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate/pray…..if we consistently do this we will learn to hear our Guidance.

-Drink lots of water

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Ask for help. Listen and watch for the response with an assured and open heart.

What made me smile yesterday……

-Beautiful poetry projects by my students.

-An easy ride to Stillwater.

-Dinner with Jackie.

-I finally got to talk to both my daughters. Both in one day. Imagine that!

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
