For your consideration……

Our ego is a smokescreen hiding who we really are. It sits in constant judgement. It is all to easy to engage with it and jump through the hoops it demands of us. But we are not our ego. Behind its smokescreen is the person God created perfect for his Divine Purpose.

It is our challenge to recognize the role our ego plays and to learn to bring our true self out from behind it. When we are forced to deal with our ego, we learn valuable life lessons. We learn to recognize what is real and true and there is no place for judgement.

We also learn that we don’t necessarily get all the answers we seek all at once. When we get rid of the smokescreen, we see the process of life. We see its evolution. Our ego points out the doubts and hypes up the fear. We have to choose between ducking back behind the smokescreen or staying in front of it and swapping out our with faith and HOPE.

Our message today reminds us of who we are…..that perfect creation complete in every way for our Divine Purpose. We know this. God does not make mistakes. And when we stop and think about it, we realize our ego is simply no match…. which is why it needs the smokescreen.

We are asked to believe in ourselves and the power given to us. We are everything we are supposed to be. We have nothing to prove or fear. Faith and HOPE in God’s love is all we need.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…….

-Meditate/pray…..stay in touch with the real you.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Pay attention…..notice when your ego taking over. It is whenever there is absence of love. It is when we are nervous, fearful, angry etc.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-My student teacher. At the end of the day, she was just sooooo ready for the weekend.

-Students still have their snow pants, boots, hats, mittens, scarves etc. to put on before they go outside. It is quite a process getting 21 students out the door. As they were poking along I say, “Come on, let’s go. No dilly dallying.” OK. I must be old. I heard them saying, “dilly dallying” over and over. Clearly they have not heard it before. I had to laugh.

-Talking to my sister and Alex.

-My husband was putting his dishes in the dishwasher after dinner. He considers this “kitchen cleanup”. He says, “Chris, I was just thinking. (that’s scary) Tomorrow night we’ll be with my kitchen cleanup hero and mentor, Will. He is like the Babe Ruth, High Priest…..of kitchen cleanup. I think I just need a towel to throw over my shoulder like he does.”

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
