Slip Slidin’ Away
Slip Slidin’ Away
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
I know a man
He came from my home town
He wore his passion for his woman
Like a thorny crown
He said delores
I live in fear
My love for you’s so overpowering
I’m afraid that I will disappear
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
I know a woman
Became a wife
These are the very words she uses
To describe her life
She said a good day
Ain’t got no rain
She said a bad day’s when I lie in bed
And think of things that might have been
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
And I know a father
He longed to tell him all the reasons
For the things he’d done
He came a long way
Just to explain
He kissed his boy as he lay sleeping
Then he turned around and headed home again
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
God only knows
God makes his plan
The information’s unavailable
To the mortal man
We work our jobs
Collect our pay
Believe we’re gliding down the highway
When in fact we’re slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
Slip slidin’ away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you’re slip slidin’ away
Mmm…
We are meant to live and grow. More often than not we do not remember how we are to accomplish our life purpose or maybe we do not even remember what it is. So we must move through life on the faith that it will take us where we need to be.
And it does. Perhaps we realize it. Perhaps we don’t. Again we have to have faith and walk through the doors we are lead to. It is our ego that talks to us and talks us out of walking through the door and walking away.
We are reminded today to not let our opportunities “slip slide away”. We are asked to take the leap of faith and believe in our potential and go through the doors we are lead to.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..
-Meditate/pray……listen to your heart. Let it lead the way.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Drink lots of water.
-Journal your HOPEs and Dreams.
What made me smile yesterday……
-A funny story from Shannon and again Ginger.
-A PJ day.
-A clean drive way.
-My neighbor.
Love, Blessings and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
