For your consideration…..

As Alex says, yuppers. You knew we would get around to meditation. I usually call it taking a pause. That seems to make it less scary and more doable. But you know it’s meditation.

It is not new news to you that meditation is good for your health both physical and mental. It is a gift from ourself to ourself. It is free. So why doesn’t everyone do it?

One reason is many people find it difficult. Their mind wanders. Why? Maybe because they are busy. Maybe because they are not comfortable being with themselves. Maybe it is the space. Maybe they have too many distractions. etc.

The good news is we have a choice. We always have a choice. We can decide to gift ourself. We can decide it is doable.

How do we begin? Look at your daily routine. Pick a time where you feel you are most likely to be able to meditate. For many people, it’s first thing in the morning or last thing before bed. But you get to choose when is best for you. Maybe it is in the shower or bath. Maybe it is during your lunch hour. Whatever you choose is perfect. Just commit to doing it daily. The commitment is more important than the amount of time you put into it.

Find a comfortable spot. It can be sitting or lying down. No, you do not have to assume the typical yoga position you most often see depicting meditation.

Close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Notice them and then continue to notice your breathing. Thoughts about problems, your to do list etc. will pop into your mind. Notice them and let them go without judgement. There is no judgement here. Relax. Do a body scan still breathing. Are you tense anywhere? Relax by breathing into that spot. You are perfect.

Look at the picture above. This picture is very similar to a place I envisioned when I began meditating. What would your perfect peaceful spot look like? Go there. Notice. Feel that peace and stay in that space as long as you can. Be grateful and return back whenever you are ready.

Remember, no judgement. If you can do 2 minutes, great. Try for 3 tomorrow. If you can do 10 minutes, great. Try for 15 tomorrow. Meditation takes practice. But I promise the benefits are huge. Not only will it bring more peace into your life, eventually you will be given signals or directions for living a smoother more balanced life. It is much like the dream state.

There are a lot of answers in the stillness that we all have access to through meditation and intention. Meditation is a tool we all have in our life tool box to help us find the easiest flow of our life journey. Like any other tool, we get proficient by practicing.

I tried guided mediations when I first started. Eventually I started using the process I described above. Now I simply get still. Sometimes I have music conducive to meditation. Sometimes I don’t.

There are many books, dvds, cds etc. on meditation. You can also Google it and get a lot of information. You know all that. It is simply a matter of making the committment to yourself. Whatever works for you is perfect.

I would simply ask you to consider this. You and everyone around you benefits from your stronger Core Essence Self. It is worth the investment of meditation. I know this. It is my HOPE you do too.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can take…..

-Grab a glass of water

-Find a comfortable spot and nestle in.

-Take some deep breaths

-Start at your feet and start moving up your body noticing anyplace that does not feel relaxed. Breath into that area and continue moving up your body.

-Picture a perfect peaceful place and go there and nestle in.

-Be still and just notice. What do you hear? What do you feel like? Stay as long as you can.

-When you are ready return back to where you are sitting or laying.

-Be grateful. Take some deep breaths and be on your way.

What made me smile yesterday……

-Sandy and Jul texted me beautiful words. I did more than smile. They touched my heart.

-A lady in front of me in the grocery line was all rung up and then realized she had forgotten her wallet. Everyone was so apologetic to me as I waited for her son to bring it from home. But I was smiling because that could have been me on any number of days. Whew, not today.

-A great dinner with friends.

-My Angels have been very funny today.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Chris
