Louis Armstrong What A Wonderful World Lyrics

Songwriters: RICE-OXLEY, TIMOTHY JAMES / CHAPLIN, TOM / HUGHES, RICHARD DAVID / SANGER, JAMES KEITH WARNOCK

I see trees of green…….. red roses too
I see em bloom….. for me and for you
And I think to myself…. what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue….. clouds of white
Bright blessed days….dark sacred nights
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world.

The colors of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..sayin.. how do you do
They’re really sayin……I love you.

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more…..than I’ll never know
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world

The colors of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are there on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..sayin.. how do you do
They’re really sayin…*spoken*(I ….love….you).

I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
*spoken*(you know their gonna learn
A whole lot more than I’ll never know)
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself …….what a wonderful world.

For your consideration……

Another day, another song. Wahoo. I only knew the first line of this song and then, of course, “what a wonderful world.” It is fun for me to go “chase” down the lyrics to a song and see why they are so important for the message. This is a very old song. Yet it’s simple message is timeless.

Today’s message is all about the simplicity in the gifts of life. It is all about the simplicity of happiness. “I see…..and I say to myself” Those simple words remind us it is all about having the attitude of noticing and appreciating the magnitude of the gifts that are given to us. Notice that not one thing in this song costs as much as a single cent. Everything is free.

As is our free will to look around us for the gifts that are given to each of us with so much love. It is our choice to “see” the gifts and feel the blessings they hold.

Finally, there is this final message, “When in doubt, go back to the simple things….the simple gifts.”

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…..

-Meditate/pray……return to your authenticity….your real self.

-Drink lots of water…cleansing body, mind and spirit.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Journal the free gifts in life that you are grateful for.

What made me smile yesterday……

-A day at sea.

-Fresh sea air.

-Fabulous food prepared by someone else.

-Being rocked to sleep.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
