“Bridge Over Troubled Waters”

Juano

For your consideration……

In the song “Bridge Over Troubled Water” Paul Simon describes recognizing a loved one in need and the willingness to sacrifice self to help and comfort.

At any given time in our lives we are in fact the person in need or the person who can provide help and comfort.

With the wrath of hurricane Sandy we are witness to both the despair and selflessness of our fellow Americans. But the reality is this exchange goes on each and every day.

Today we are reminded that we are not islands. We are meant to give comfort and support when we recognize the need. And we are meant to seek it when we need it for ourselves. Bridging the gap is what makes us human. It is the common bond we have with each other.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bridge Over Troubled Water

When you’re weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I’m on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can’t be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you’re down and out
When you’re on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I’ll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I’m sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Drink lots of water.

-Be free with your smile.

-Join me in prayer and blessing for those Hurricane Sandy has put in need. “We ask God to send Archangel Michael and Archangel Raphael to those who need their help. We ask that they carry with them our prayers and blessings for comfort, peace and healing. We ask also that they be given to the people offering rescue and aid working tirelessly to provide comfort, shelter and support to those in need. God Bless All. And so it is.”

What made me smile yesterday…..

-A fun school day. It is always fun when I teach ESL. I always end up with funny stories.

-Skyping with Alex. Isn’t it wonderful we now have this ability.

-Lunch at one of my favorite Chinese restaurants.

-A nap and an early bedtime. Wow.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
