For your consideration……

You know you learn something, actually many things, each day. When I was given the title for today’s blog, I was clear on the definition of “Spiritualist“. I have no idea what made me look up the definition. Here is what I found:

Merriam Webster…

1. the view that spirit is a prime element of reality 2. a belief that spirits of the dead communicate with the living usually through a medium

Wikipedia….

Spirituality is the concept of an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality;[1] an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.”[2] Spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer and contemplation, are intended to develop an individual’s inner life. Spiritual experiences can include being connected to a larger reality, yielding a more comprehensive self; joining with other individuals or the human community; with nature or the cosmos; or with the divine realm.[3] Spirituality is often experienced as a source of inspiration or orientation in life.[4] It can encompass belief in immaterial realities or experiences of the immanent or transcendent nature of the worldSpirituality is the concept of an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality;[1] an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.”[2] Spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer and contemplation, are intended to develop an individual’s inner life. The Free Dictionary….
1. a. The belief that the dead communicate with the living, as through a medium.b. The practices or doctrines of those holding such a belief.
2. A philosophy, doctrine, or religion emphasizing the spiritual aspect of being.

As I read all of these I was forced to identify what I think a Spiritualist is. While I agree with the above. I feel a need to simplify and clarify more.

We are Spirit. We are of Spirit.

Does our Spirit die? No, it carries on in different form.

Can we communicate with Spirits who have assumed this form. Yes. We do it all of the time.

But for me and what I am being asked to communicate here today is the “more” part of the definition.

A Spiritualist seeks an expanded and more complete connection to our Creator…..whoever that is for you. For me it is God.

As Spiritualists we seek to live our life letting our Spirit versus our ego lead the way. Is this always easy? Certainly not. But we are on a spiritual journey and the journey is important. The lessons and answers to the “whys” we pick up along the journey go straight to our life tool box. We have them for our use for the rest of our spiritual days….not life days…..spiritual days.

Spiritualism may have been dormant for most for hundreds of years. But it has survived. It is now thriving. I am a Spiritualist and if you are here so are you. There are no coincidences.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take……

-Meditate….tap into your authentic “spiritual” self daily.

-Journal the thoughts you get each day as you meditate.

-Drink lots of water.

-Seek healthy foods.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday……

-I had a wonderful “morning coffee” at a local coffee shop where I met with a friend I rarely see, Jerry J. It was so good to catch up.

-Bills paid.

-Stillwater…..oh it has been too long since I have been here.

-Business contacts made for teaching life long learning classes.

-Reading and working by the fireplace.

-Rereading my book draft. Does it need work? Yeah, but I like it.

-Skyping with Alex. Too fun.

Love, Blessings and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
