For your consideration…

I love today’s message for a lot of reasons. First because the example is silly and made me laugh out loud. Second because it felt like my mom was sitting next to me saying the same thing. Finally, because I had a similar example this week with one of my students.

We are given another question for today’s message. It is exactly this, “What makes the difference between stepping in a pile of poop (not my mom’s word) and coming out smelling like poop or smelling like a rose?”

The difference of course is attitude. Are we angry, incensed? Are we freaked out? etc. Or do we see humor. Can we laugh about it? Humor and laughter are good for us. If we can find humor we prevent our bodies from releasing adrenaline (ephinephrine, and cortisol which are not good for us.

Finding the humor is not only good for us but it is good for the people around us. Just this week my class went to check on the schools chickens on the way to recess. There is a tree in the chicken yard. While feeding the chickens, a bird from the tree dropped poop on Tej’s shoulder. “Ewww,” That was a normal response. Howls of laughter followed it from him and his class.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good an?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at last 10 deep breaths.

-Always remember to keep your sense of humor.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day. This fall has been truly magnificent.

-A great class.

-Catching up with Shannon.

-Dinner with Conner and Alex followed by an evening with Conner.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
