For your consideration…

Today’s message is fun. At least it is meant to be.

Too often I hear people say, myself included, “I am not creative.” Our message today tells us that we all are given a creative gene. What that gene looks like or does is different in each of us. Like everything else it was created perfect for US.…God being the creative genius that he is.

As I sat with this message, I thought of myself and friends. I thought of my friend, Vicki. She paints rocks. Each of us that she gifts them with feel special and blessed. My friend, Jul, is a Mother Earth fanatic. All I know fits in her little finger. She is a wealth of information not only about Mother Earth but about how to enjoy it. I loved all of the places she comes up with to walk.

My friend, Kathy, who we lost last week discovered she like to paint with water colors. To make them special she would write quotes that she found inspiring on them. She would post them around her house and and give them to friends as gifts…often for no reason at all. We have another friend, Anita. Kathy and Anita had a jewelry workshop set up on Anita’s table. The thing they made most was dangling earrings with the peace symbol. Kathy would always keep a spare set on them on a card in her purse. When someone, friend or stranger, would comment on them, she would gift them to them. All she asked was where they came from. Then she and Anita would put a pin on a map of the location. They had earrings of peace across the country.

My friend, Janet, loves to garden. She not only loves working in the garden, she loves creating them. Every time she comes up with a new plan, her family points out the number of gardens sh already has. That does not deter her.

Personally, I love paper. I love making cards. I am not very original but I take ideas and make them my own with the tools I have.

We all have talent…writing, drawing, planning, sewing, gardening, painting, comforting others, sports and exercise, communication, working with children, design, etc., etc., etc.

When we use our creativity, we spark joy and inspiration in ourselves and others. That is a good thing. As my friend, Kathy, always said, “Everything is good and getting better every day.”

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Affirm…I am creative.

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-A good walk with Jul and Louie.

-An overdue trip to the fabric store.

-A walk to the food truck in Alex’s neighborhood with Alex, Conner, Moose, and Louie.

-Eating out on the deck watching Conner use his creativity that he never puts away.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
