For your consideration…

Perhaps you have heard the saying, “Do what you love and the money will follow.” That is the saying that came in for today’s message but the words were changed to “Take care of yourself first…”

Often we spend a lot of our time, talent, emotions, love, trying to put up a good image to others. We try to convince them that we are the person we want them to see. We want them to see us as loving, kind, happy, helpful, courteous,, etc. Each of us can fill in the words about who we want other to see.

Our message today again points to the subtle difference in phrases. “Who I want others to see.” versus “Who I want to be.” Our focus today is on “I” and who want “I” to be.

When we put in the work to become our best self, the person “I” want to be we become that person. When we are impressed with ourselves, proud of ourselves, we become a magnet. It is that “self” that others are drawn to.

The best form of flattery is when people try to emulate you. The highest form of flattery is when they emulate those qualities of your best self, those things that make you the very best version of yourself. Yet, we are reminded again, that should not be our first goal. It is a tag-on, a good “cause and effect.”

Our first goal is to take care of ourselves first. Stay focused on “I” and putting in the work to become the person you know you can be, a person you are proud of.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Focus on ourselves and becoming the best we can be.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A great lunch with Shannon and Mackenzie.

-Finally there is some results to the cold weather and grey skies…snow.

-Some shopping done.

-Catching up with Jackie and Mary.

-A new book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
