Perhaps you know the song, “Why Can’t We All Just Along?” I thought of it today as we were given today’s message.
Why can’t we all just get alongDo we wanna be here ten years laterSinging the same sad songIt don’t have to take our last breathTo admit that we’re wrongWhy can’t we all just get along
I also thought about this Bowman Bay on Fidalgo Island. It is in Deception Pass State Park. This particular part of the park has a history of having a “way” side and a “peace” side. My daughter and son-in-law were married there. I remember thinking at the time how fitting it seemed. War and peace…finding common ground.
Our message today is about common ground. I am sure you have heard before that everyone on the planet is separated by no more than 6 degrees of separation. We may often think that isn’t true. Then we meet people and discover connections through the people we know. When we fight and disagree with each other, we are fighting and disagreeing with family.
Today we are reminded that there are two sides. Rather than look for disagreements and differences, look for common ground….first. Let common ground be our “go to.”
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Seek common ground…first.
What made me smile yesterday…
-Tasks that have been hanging over my head done.
-Picking Conner up from school and having a fun time with him.
-A fun cooking class.
-Fun reading.
