For your consideration…

We may remember that Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest. So today’s message at first seemed ill-timed. But as I kept reflecting on it and asked questions, I realized that, of course, it is perfectly timed.

We are just coming out of a change of seasons. There is always a lot of little extra things to do in preparation. We are busy and then we just want to settle in. This is good. But…there is always a but, a flip side…we do not want to let ourselves get into a “rut.” This is easy to do as we get into the colder months and we tend to hibernate.

Yet our message today tells us, no. This is an opportunity to try new things, expand our knowledge, pick up some new skills, etc. If we feel like sitting in under a blanket, go for it but consider a new book, a new genre, one that we learn something from. Of how about picking up a craft and trying it. Or maybe we can try our hand at using tools and doing some projects around the house. We can change up our menu and try new recipes. How about dressing up your table on a regular week night? There is always a need for volunteers. Volunteering is good way to help others, meet new people, and get new skill sets in places we are interested in helping.

You get the picture. We are being asked to not let ourselves get stagnant and keep learning and growing.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Affirm…”I am valuable.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

What made me smile yesterday…

-Watching Conner.

-Breakfast preparations for Alpha House’s breakfast today.

-Great pictures from both my girls.

-Finished a book and started a new one.

-An extra hour of snooze time.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
