Teaching Kids Not to Covet - Proverbs 31 Homestead

For your consideration…

When we think about coveting, most of us think about the Ten Commandments. Thou shall not covet is one of them. When we replace the word “covet” with “jealousy,” we tend to think of it as a character flaw versus being a sin. Tricky aren’t we. We also tend to categorize coveting. Wishing we had an ice cream cone like someone else has is not the same thing as wanting their spouse, house, car, job, etc. But remember, without judgment everything is equal.

So we are reminded to not covet what someone else has. Does this seem harsh? Maybe. But remember that all of our messages come from love and our highest good. Coveting consumes the space waiting for our own dreams. Coveting consumes the space where our own blessings want to go.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Be excited for our own dreams to be birthed.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-My sprinkler system was finally turned on.

-Catching up with Kathy, Jody, Mary, and Alex.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
