For your consideration…

This Michelle Obama quote is a spin off of Michael Watson’s quote, ” Strong people don’t put others down. They lift them up.” But I like her expansion of it.

I am sure we have all been on the receiving end of unkind remarks and probably given some as well perhaps in anger. We probably all know of people who are do it on a regular basis passing there remarks off as humor. Many years ago I quit watching the TV show, The View. I found myself anxious because my sense was that it went beyond opinions and information to being mean spirited. Their intentions went beyond informative to attacking people, sometimes each other. I am using them as an example but they are certainly the only ones. As I have said many times, I no longer listen to the news. I simply don’t know of a place where you can get truth without their opinions thrown in.

It is never ok to put people down to make yourself look good, feel powerful, because you have the platform and can, etc. It does not make a person bigger and stronger. It diminishes them.

Once again, intention is everything. I would like to say that it is never appropriate to hurt someone else’s feelings. But that is not true. Sometimes we have to tell people what they don’t want to hear. What matters is where that truth is coming from and its intention. Is it for their highest good? That is the litmus test. “Are we telling what we know will hurt their feelings for their highest good?” Are we telling them from a loving heart?

Words are just words. It is the intention behind them that matters. We are asked to let the intention of our words come from a kind and loving spirit.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Remember…You are the keeper of the light. Wherever you go, there can be no darkness.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Use your words to lift people up.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Spending the morning with Conner.

-The last bingo of the season.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
