For your consideration…

As today’s message came in today, I was immediately reminded of a conversation with my friends last week at lunch. When I did my morning reading for myself, three cards jumped out and I knew that it was for each of us. I wrote them down and took them to lunch. One friend immediately thought the message was about her and her husband which was interesting because that is not who I thought the message was about. She told us of and incident they had a couple of weeks ago. Her husband said something that did not make her feel good. Rather than start an argument, she sat with it for a couple of days and then during one of their morning talks she brought it up (this is a good strategy…addressing conflict with a cooler head and heart.) Her husband remembered the conversation and apologized. He acknowledged her feelings. He was sad because that was not the intention behind his words.

And that is what today’s message wants to focus on…..intention. Words and actions can wound us. Some of that is because of our own perspective and filters we have developed throughout our lives. Sometimes those words and actions are meant to wound us. We must remind ourselves that those are more about the person using them than the recipient.

But sometimes that is not the intention at all. The actions or words were not meant to wound us. So we have a choice. We always have a choice. We can live with the hurt of our assumptions or we can address the situation. We can choose to explain how hurt we feel and ask for clarification. If the hurt was intended, then we learn something about the person we may not have known. If the hurt was not intentional we can more readily heal. No matter the case, once we confront the situation, we need to let it go. Living with anger, hurt, etc. interferes with our highest good and the highest good of all.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Clear the air.

What made me smile yesterday…

-The rain stopped and it was a beautiful day.

-Lots of fun with my friend, Janet. A great breakfast, a wonderful gift, and productive shopping.

-Catching up with Mac and both of my girls.

-A new book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
