The Multi-Layered Self: Why We Grow in Parts

For your consideration…

I love to cook. I watch a lot of cooking shows. So it is not surprising that our message would come in via terms I hear all of the time. In this case it is, “layers of flavor.” Great dishes have layers of flavor. They hit your pallet at different places. They are multi dimensional verses one note. Those of us who like art like it for the same reason. We see something different every time we look at it. Think about our favorite TV shows or movies. One of the reasons they are our favorite is because of the character development. Good writers create a character that has many layers to them.

That is what our message wants us to think about today. Every person has many layers to them. To truly know them and know their truth is to peal those layers back. Take the time to see each layer and how they developed into the full person. Chances are that in most cases, most people are much more than what we first thought they were.

It is a gift to see and know another’s truth, their true self.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Take the time to know the “whole true person.” In the minimum, accept that they are more then what we might think they are.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Fun texts from Judy.

-Catching up with Alex.

-Nails done.

-Great leftovers.

-Finished a book series.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
