Don't Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth - English Idioms & Slang Dictionary

For your consideration…

I love this Meryl Streep quote for today’s message. It is exactly perfect…

“I never look a gift horse in the mouth. and I’ve been really, really lucky. My career has been given to me by the people I’ve worked with.

The actors, the directors, the cinematographers, the writers, all of whom gave me the opportunity to work in the way that I have and I’m really grateful.”

Sometimes we get cynical. A blessing drops in our lap and we think it is too good to be true….look a gift horse in the mouth. Sometimes, people just like to do things for other people. They do it because they can and feel like they should. It makes them feel good to be helpful. There is no ulterior motive. It is just human kindness in action.

We are asked to keep open hearts.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Just simile and say thank you.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Louie and I spent a good part of the day with Conner and Moose.

-Grocery shopping done.

-A new book.

-Catching up with Jody.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
