For your consideration…

Who doesn’t love a surprise? Believe it or not, there are some people who would say they don’t.

I remember one time I was taking my daughter and friend to Space Camp in Alabama. For some reason I was thinking that was not far from my mom’s place in Florida. It turns out that it was far but I had made plans to continue on from Alabama and surprise my mom. My sister told me that was not a good idea. “Mom doesn’t like surprises. She is going to be upset.” I decided to take my chances. As I got close to her house I decided to give her a call. We were talking on the phone when I pulled up out front so I got to see her face as she peaked out the window to see who had pulled up. She paused and then said, “Chrissy, is that you?” Oh yeah, she liked that surprise.

The thing with my Mom was she wanted everything a certain way when we were going to pay a visit. But I didn’t want her to jump through hoops and exhaust herself preparing for a visit from me.

I give this example because almost all people love surprises if the circumstances are right. What are those right circumstances?

The person being surprised does not have to do anything. They are not put under any pressure. Second, pure intention directed for the receiver delivered with love.

Surprising someone with pure and loving circumstances and intentions make the recipient feel special, loved, and blessed. Who could not love a surprise under those circumstances?

We are reminded that surprises do not have to be big or costly. Our message today tells us that we can be someone’s surprise today. We can make a surprise visit, call, do a random act of kindness, etc.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Be someone’s surprise today.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Taking care of my grandson, Conner.

-He loves being outside. We spent a major part of the day outside.

-A good book.

-Alex had a great first day at orientation for her PA program.

-A beautiful day.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
