For your consideration…

I love today’s message. I don’t think we have ever had it before so this is fun. I thought it might be hard to find a good image for it but the opposite was true. There were so many very cool old posters promoting food preservation ie; canning, and growing wheat for the war effort, etc. I was torn on what to choose but I choose the above image because it reminded me of my friend Sue.

I worked with Sue’s husband for many years in Mexico, Poland, and the United States. Sue was a fabulous interior decorator. Sometimes I would feel bad for Jack. He would come home from work and for instance, she had taken a sledgehammer to the master bathroom and made it ready for them to remodel. But the reason I thought of her today as she was brilliant at repurposing things. I saw her old shoes on her front porch with planted flowers just like above. In her garden, she had an old bowling ball that she had covered in cement and attached beads, old watch faces, stuff out of the junk drawer, glass, etc.

Today we are asked to not be wasteful. Use what we have. And maybe even get creative and repurpose. I suspect many of us are already doing more of this. I have had many conversations with friends about how good it feels to “use something up completely and throw away the box.” And many about, using what is in our freezer and only buying what is on sale because food is so expensive.

So this “economic crisis” we are in has a flip side. First, we are reminded to be grateful for what we have. Second, we are reminded not to be wasteful. Things may not be as plentiful or available as they once were. Third, repurpose things. Finally, share.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Waste not, want not.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Another beautiful day. We had it all. A little sun and a little rain.

-One night this week I was watching a shopping channel and was reminded of something I had bought back in April but it never came. I checked and sure enough I had been charged for it. I called they shipped the order out. No idea what happened to the first one. It says it was delivered but the replacement came yesterday. Wahoo.

-Catching up with both my girls and Mary.

-I have a lot of balls in the air with get-togethers I need to do things for. I got a few of them done yesterday.

-I am conferring with a lead I was given to help with my book. Fingers crossed this works out.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
