For your consideration…

We often hear the phrase, “immediate gratification.” Usually, it is in reference to the latest generation. The truth is that probably all of us suffer from this sometimes. The easier it is to access things, information, communication, etc., the more impatient we can become. It is easy to forget that there is joy in the journey.

Once again it is our attitude and intention that makes the difference. If we don’t want to do the work, it is easy to become annoyed. If we don’t want to wait for something, we avoid the journey and seek to acquire it immediately.

As this message came in, I immediately thought of a friend of mine. Sigrid and I met when she was my daughter, Alex’s, foster mom at the Naval Academy. I always look forward to visits with her. Sigrid’s dream was to buy a truck and fifth wheel and travel the country when she retired. She planned, researched, rented out her house, and implemented her plan. She is in her third year traveling around the country with her dog, Archie.

She has to be very conscious of what she buys because of the limited space and weight of her RV. Sigrid shops at Good Will, Salvation Army. garage sales, etc. She buys what she needs as she needs it and then donates it back when she is done. I used to do this with my cottage. Pick up a book, read it, and drop it back off in the donation box when I was done. Each year she picks an author and then reads every book in his series(s). She searches for these books until she finds them. She does not run right to Amazon and buy them. It is the same with a collection of glasses. There is an artist that paints glasses. They are recognizable because they have a drink recipe on the bottom of them. Once again, she could just go out and buy them but instead, she looks for them in resale stores and picks them up for a fraction of what they originally cost. She is absolutely joyous when she finds them.

My mom was the same way. She found great joy in finding something at a yard sale that she always wanted or knew that one of her children would love.

The point is…as these stories exemplify…there is joy in the journey…the search.

This is also an example, of our life journey. Skipping steps…lessons…does not necessarily make our life easier, better, or more joyous.

We are reminded today to check our intention. Intend to enjoy our life journey. Live in the moment. Notice what it holds for us. Be grateful and joyous.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Check with Spirit on all things. Do a proof loop back to what you were guided to do yesterday.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Enjoy your journey.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Wow, beautiful much needed rain.

-A manicure and pedicure.

-An event at the Enlightenment Center.

-Catching up with Alex.

Love, Blessings, and  Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
