For your consideration…

I have always worked a lot. When my oldest daughter was about 3, I enrolled her in nursery school. Normally my dad or step-mom would pick her up because I was working. One day I got off early and thought I would surprise her. The surprise was on me. As I observed through the closed classroom door, I saw that she was pretty unruly. The teacher would gently redirect her. I was shocked. She was smart and usually well-behaved. When I got to my Dad’s, my grandmother was there. They asked why I was upset and when I explained my grandmother said, “Ah, little kids little problems, big kids big problems.” At the time, I didn’t pay much attention. Instead, I called the school to ask how long this behavior had gone on. They said that kids go through stages and that with redirection and correction problem behavior usually goes away. They don’t worry until it lasts for more than 3 weeks. And I shouldn’t worry either. Shannon grew up to be a wonderful wife, mother, friend, daughter, nurse, etc.

The school was right and my grandmother was right. It is all about context and perception. Today, certainly me, we need to pause and really think about where in the scheme of things do our problems really fall? Do we need an attitude adjustment?

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Reflect on perception.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Catching up with Mary and Jackie.

-My sister got a surprise and well-deserved award from her work.

-Kathy and Tom stopped by.

-A beautiful sunny day perfect for sitting outside with Conner, Alex, and James.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
