For your consideration…

in part, Happy…Pharrell Williams

Huh (Because I’m happy)
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
(Because I’m happy)
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
(Because I’m happy)
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
(Because I’m happy)
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do
We wish people Happy Birthday, Happy Easter, Happy New Year. The question is what exactly are we wishing for them?
What is Happy? Happiness means something different to each one of us. The other day we were talking about traveling and how we are treated in various countries, which led us to a discussion about different cultures. I love Utila. It is not most of my friends’ idea of an ideal vacation spot. But I love it because I love the people. I love how happy the people are. I love the family life they treasure. I love the simplicity of life there. My ideal vacation is friendly, happy people, warm water, sunshine, a good book, and coffee. I don’t need to be on the go all of the time trying to cram in sightseeing. That is me. I would just as soon cook and sit around my kitchen table with friends as go out to a crowded, noisy restaurant. While I like to do that sometimes, it is not something I require to be happy. This is me.
But you, I am sure, have a different idea of happiness. And that is what today’s message is about. If we want to be happy, we need to know what makes us happy. What is it that we are desiring, HOPEing for? Knowing and doing what it takes to be happy, is how we create the energy and space for more happiness. Be it first.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Be happy.
What made me smile yesterday…
-A beautiful sunny Easter.
-Family and friends for Easter Brunch.
-A fun relaxing day.
-Catching up via video chat with Alex and Conner.
Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
