For your consideration…

Sometimes we do this with ourselves. We set goals and then we set stretch goals. We do this right now with my baby grandson, Conner. We put things just out of reach so he has to figure out how to get there, etc. Setting stretch goals is good for us.

We realize this for ourselves. But as people who like to help others, we don’t always expect the same from them. Think about the controversy in our school systems over dumbing down.” We worry about how children might feel if they don’t get good grades or pass tests etc. Rather than teaching them how to feel good about themselves, the thought is to lower the expectations so that they will get the grades, pass the tests. We assume that will make them feel confident.

Our message today tells us that we should always expect more. We should always raise the bar with ourselves, others, our government, our faith, our health, our job, world peace, etc…everything. The problem is not that we are expecting too much but expecting too little. We are lacking the Faith and HOPE to imagine and expect more. We need to raise the bar.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Raise the bar. Expand our Faith and HOPE.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Catching up with Alex and Conner.

-A good book.

-Catching up with Jackie and Mary.

-I see my herbs coming up.

Love, Blessings, and Graitude,

Rev. Chris
