Ego

For your consideration…

I’m not sure if you have checked out the “I Promise” page on this blog. But in it I promise to leave my ego outside the door. I really go through this activity before I write. I ask my ego to step outside. You see, I know that the ego is pesty and persistent and I always have to be on guard for it.

I love color but I choose this picture because it is so ironic. If everything were black or white, wouldn’t life be easy? It may be boring but definitely easier.

I am really not all that clear on why we have to have an ego. But I think, it is because it’s necessary for free will which we must  have  to learn our life lessons. We have to make our own decisions, good or bad for our growth.

You know the saying, “get real”? Well, every one’s “real” is different. We can all attest to what happens when egos clash personally, professionally, politically as well as in religion.

What can we do? We need our egos. We can’t leave them “outside the door” all the time.

Here’s the deal. The ego get us into trouble when we use them for judgement against ourselves and others. Our ego is supposed to challenge us. We need that to grow. But we need to be aware of it, acknowledge it and make balanced decisions based on what is real without the judgement.

Our ego is always sitting on our shoulder shouting garbage in our ear. It also likes to listen to other people’s garbage as well. Holy smokes, we’re bombarded. It makes us doubt ourselves or even the opposite by giving us false bravado. It is very easy to listen to it. And it is easy to get confused on what is real and what is not.

Feeling overwhelmed yet? Where’s the HOPE you’re wondering?

Here it is. Just as we have the ego throwing these challenges at us. We have angels and guides surrounding us as well. They are with us every second of every day to help us make the right choices. They are constant in imparting love and wisdom to us. They are every bit as persistent as the ego. So how do we know what is from the angels and what is from the ego? Simply ask the question. Your angels are always present and ready with your highest good. If the choice or answer does not feel like your highest good, it is your ego talking. Our angels always, always, speak to us from love and kindness with no conditions. If that is not what you are feeling, then it is your ego talking. If the message  beats you up, belittles you or makes you doubt yourself, it is not from your angels.

We have talked about Core Essence Self, our soul, before. Remember, it is perfect. We need to remember to protect it. All the doubts, challenges, negativity that comes at us from our ego and others can be stopped. We must be on guard to only let what is true into our Core Essence Self. How do we do that? That is pretty easy too. When you have that negativity thrown at you, whether it is intentional or not, stop. Stop it. Look at it. And ask yourself this, “Is it true?” Am I really incompetent? Am I really incapable of learning this? Am I really not nice? Am I really selfish? Etc. Etc. Etc.

Again, stop it at the ego level. Stop it. Ask the question. Is this true? Is this for my highest good? If the answer is no, reject it without judgement and let it go. Let only the truth into your Core Essence Self.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can do….

-If you don’t already, journal your dreams. We receive lots of information in our dreams.

-Drink lots of water. Water is not only a cleanser it helps with clarity as well.

-Pause and reflect for as long as you can

-Repeat out loud 10 times. “I am perfect exactly as I am, exactly where I am supposed to be.Thank you, God”

-Take in 10 deep breaths outdoors.
