For your consideration…

The song, “I Won’t Give Up” ushered in today’s message. The whole song is great but in particular these lyrics;

Well, I won’t give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I’m giving you all my love
I’m still looking up
And when you’re needing your space
To do some navigating
I’ll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find
‘Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We’ve got a lot to learn
God knows we’re worth it
No, I won’t give up
I was reminded of the work I have done with our Domestic Violence Center. One of their key roles is to always be there for survivors. There are many reasons why Safehouse is the only place survivors feel they can turn. Sometimes they are embarrassed and don’t want others to know. Sometimes they are alone and don’t have friends and family close by. Often it is because the abuser has successfully isolated the survivor from family and friends. And sometimes it is because friends and family have helped so many times they have given up and walked away.
This is an example that represents many different problems that surface in relationships ie; control issues, alcohol or drug addiction, cheating, betrayals, etc. It is always a tough call on when to walk away and when to stay. We want to be supportive but we do not want to be doormats or enablers.
Our message today reminds us to suspend judgment for ourselves and others. We are all doing the best we can. We have to make the best decision we can. Often it is after others have failed. We are asked to not focus on the walking away. Instead, focus on the intention. Focus on the love we have and the intention for healing  for the highest good of all. Even if we decide we must walk away, we can hold healing and love for someone in our heart. We never have to give up on that intention.
That is the HOPE. And so it is.
-Affirm…“I am loved.”
-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”
-Drink lots of water.
-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.
-Keep the intention of love and healing alive.
What made me smile yesterday…
-A beautiful day.
-Catching up with both of my girls.
-A new book.
-Cute new pictures of Conner.
Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,
Rev. Chris
