For your consideration…

We have had a lot of messages today about going within and living spirit forward. Today’s message is about looking beneath the surface of others.

I read somewhere that comedians are very often depressed people. That really stuck with me. It explained why people I really like suddenly made me uncomfortable. A couple of examples came forward for today’s message. I used to like the Rosie O’Donnel show. Her first one was a light and refreshing part of the afternoon. Over time I wasn’t left feeling light and refreshed. It is the same with The View. Joy Behar and even Whoopi Goldberg don’t feel funny. They feel angry. So yet another show bit the dust for me. And as I have often written, I do not watch the news. I simply can not let all of the negativity into my life. It just seems too much to overcome.

Does that mean I think anyone else should stop watching the above shows or the news? Of course not. I think each of us should do, read, watch, etc. what feels good for them.

The purpose of today’s message is to remind us to consider that everyone has a spirit that lies beneath the spirit. And just like we were reminded about ourselves, everyone has an ego that hides what we do not want to see or address; disappointments, hurt, things we are ashamed of, things we are afraid of. All of us has an ego that helps us to hide. Therefore it is easier to go along with a collective narrative versus stand alone in truth. It is easier to attack, hide behind the comedy, repeat angry narrative, etc. than go within and suspend judgement, and stand in the light of truth and love.

Search for the spirit beneath the surface.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Look beneath the surface.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Shannon, Tank, and Uno made an impromptu visit.

-Who knew washing golf balls outside on a beautiful day could be fun?

-A new book.

-Catching up with Mary and Alex.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
