For your consideration…

Our sense of touch is important. We have the power to bless ourselves and others with touch.

Pay attention to marketing campaignes and notice how they appeal to our sense of touch with words like soft, cozy, comfortable, etc. Images are what brought in today’s message.

I retired from an automotive company. Over the years I worked many jobs but one was in their design center. Picking materials and placement of materials is always a big decision. Not only do they need to look good but they need to feel good. We would test and talk about the “hand of the fabric.” How is the customer going to feel when they touch it? What is their experience going to be? If we advertise leather seating then wherever they touch on the seat, they should feel leather.

Ladies, think about buying your purse. We touch it frequently. What does it feel like?

Recently, my oldest daughter made an afghan for my  youngest daughter who is expecting her first child. The question became fringe or no fringe. From experience we know all of our babies in the family have loved to feel, play with, snuggle with the fringe. Decision made.

Yesterday, I reluctantly gave a couple of pairs of my favorite PJ’s away. They are too big and I can no longer keep them up…note to self…make sure future PJ’s have a waistband that can be tightened. Why were they my favorites? Because they were super soft and draped well, they felt great.

A week or so ago, I was walking Louie. A teenager from the neighborhood asked if he could pet him. Turned out he really wanted to cuddle him. As he did so, he said, “I love fluffy dogs.”

The above examples were what was given to me for today’s message. Touch consciously and sub-consciously is important. We deserve things that bring us peace and comfort. We are asked today to take our time choosing things and invest wisely in things that soothes us and brings us comfort and peace.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all?”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Treat yourself to things whose touch comforts you.

What made me smile yesterday…

-A beautiful day.

-Dinner with Julie.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
