For your consideration…

Don’t let the sun go down on me.” That Elton John song was given as our message today. While the song is clearly about the breaking up of a relationship, our meaning today is broader than that. Consider these words from the song,

“I can’t light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I’m growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life.”

This song is about change. What we are asked to consider, remember, is that every relationship/experience changes us. It changes us in the beginning. It changes us during it. It changes us when it ends. Sometimes we may be relieved. Sometimes we may be neutral, nonchalant about it. Sometimes, we may be very sad about it.

When we are sad about it, we may try to hang on to it even when it is time to let go. It may feel like we are descending into darkness. But we have a choice. We always have a choice. We can choose to stay in the light even if it is dimmer for a bit. We can choose to honor the relationship/experience for what it did for us. We can bless it and let it go. We can be grateful that we had it…for however long it was….grateful for the changes it made in us.

That is the HOPE. And so it is.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, HOPE by HOPE action steps anyone can take…

-Affirm…“I am loved.”

-Meditate/pray…ask…”What is my next step for my highest good and the highest good of all.”

-Drink lots of water.

-Get outdoors and take in at least 10 deep breaths.

-Honor every relationship/experience for what it has done for us.

What made me smile yesterday…

-Spending the day with both of my girls.

-They had readings from Mark.

-Gabriels hoagies.

-Take out from the Little Pierogi in Wyandotte. So good. We had breakfast crepes from them this morning.

-A good book.

Love, Blessings, and Gratitude,

Rev. Chris
