Remember Me….Mother Earth

For your consideration…..

Remember those times in grade school when everyone would have their hand raised as high as they could saying, “pick me, pick me.” Or as children doing stuff to try to get our Mom’s attention. Parents of grown children will tell you that flips around and parents of adult children are often thinking or saying, “Hey, remember me?”

The tone of today’s message is like that. Sort of serious but loving and playful as well. It goes without saying that we all need to be treating Mother Earth with far more respect, love and responsibility than we do. But today’s message is different from that.

Today we are gently reminded that each day Mother Earth provides and gifts us with something new and blessed. She proudly sustains us. She does it with respect, love and responsibility for all living things.

Today she is like that child with the raised hand or the adult parent saying remember me. She would just like us to not only look but to see her. She would like us to not only listen but hear her. She would like us to feel her under our feet and in the air. She would like us to notice and embrace her smell and the taste of her bounty.

It doesn’t seem like a big request of us. None the less it will be an enormous gift to her. That is the HOPE.

Bit by bit, piece by piece, hope by hope action steps anyone can take……..

-Meditate for as long as you can. Consider including a loving thought for Mother Earth.

-As you drink your water today, remember the gift that it truly is and give thanks.

-As you take in your 10 deep breaths out doors, notice the smell.

-Look around you. Is your landscaping changing colors as ours is? Magnificent isn’t it?

-If you can, maybe on your way to your mailbox for example, go barefoot. Get your bare feet in some grass or sand.

What made me smile yesterday…..

-Productivity. I was a machine at getting things done.

-A new vacuum.

-I talked to both my girls. They are truly blessings, not only to myself but to others as well.

-My sister, Lori, not only did we smile, we laughed out loud.

-Hey, what about those Lions?
